Biodegradability of a bioplastic film from tamarind xyloglucan in composting bioreactors

Plastic is used excessively due to its excellent properties and low cost. This has led the ubiquitous accumulation of waste as it takes a very long time biodegrade. Until now, several research projects have developed different biodegradable plastics, tests validate them are still being undertaken. In this research, biodegradability test was performed on bioplastic synthesized from tamarind xyloglucan ethyl acrylate (b-XgT), designed be substitute for polystyrene. A sample b-XgT composted in laboratory conditions CO2 release measurements were made. The results showed biodegradation 18 days with loss mass 40.3% final pH 7.1. found compostable type through anaerobic route, which promotes digestion compounds such xylose that contribute degradation whole polymer.
